November Playback 2024

Welcome to the November edition of our Bridgewater For All Playback, where we look back at the highlights of the Learning and Participation programme at The Bridgewater Hall for this month. November has been marked at the Hall by a crisp autumn chill, and the warm glow of early festive lights – we’re here for it!

The Bridgewater Hall Singers – 6 & 20 November

This month our community choir, the Bridgewater Hall Singers, were joined by the lovely Gemma from Sign Me Happy to learn some festive British Sign Language (BSL). Gemma leads many Sing and Sign choirs with Manchester Deaf Centre, and it was great to see our Singers learning a new skill together. Together we learnt the actions for We Wish You a Merry Christmas and Feliz Navidad. Both songs will be performed by our Singers along with over 100 other Simply Singing choir members from across the north west! Everyone did an amazing job at remembering the actions, lyrics, and harmonising all at the same time. This activity was all about having fun, trying something new, and making a performance as accessible as possible. Well done to everyone involved, and keep your eyes peeled on our socials for our Singers in action.

Starting with journey across a stormy sea to a party featuring some hits from The Greatest Showman, this interactive concert had everything!

Music Makers – 18 November

November’s Music Maker’s sessions were led by the incredibly talented Georgie and Mia. Georgie took us on a frosty forest adventure where we explored different textures and sounds with the help of her beautiful violin. Mia introduced us to her friend, the trumpet, and told us lots of interesting facts and showed us the funny sounds it could make. The babies in the room were fascinated!

SHIVA Indian Youth Choir and BVG Indian Adults Choir School Concert – 24 November

We were thrilled to welcome over 800 school children from across Greater Manchester to this special free concert at the Hall. Designed for Years 5-7, the event offered a vibrant and engaging introduction to Indian classical music. Led by Dr. Rakesh Joshi, students experienced the beauty of traditional Indian instruments and songs, whilst exploring the rhythms and cultures of various Indian musical styles. Students even participated in the performance by learning and singing two traditional Indian songs – thank you to everyone who joined us for this celebratory concert!
