One of the most exciting orchestras in Southeast Asia, the Philippine Philharmonic from Manila, who in recent years have been impressing audiences and critics across the world, will appear at The Bridgewater Hall in Spring 2025.

This programme is a celebration of unforgettable tunes and easy-to-love classics. You’ll hear the joyful and colourful sounds of Mendelssohn’s Italian Symphony, inspired by his travels through sun-soaked 19th-century Italy. Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake Suite delivers some of the most famous and enchanting ballet melodies ever composed, while his Rococo Variations, performed by the renowned cellist Wen-Sinn Yang, is a sparkling, elegant piece filled with charm and wit.

The evening also offers the familiar and stirring Nimrod from Elgar’s Enigma Variations, a piece that never fails to move with its warmth and grandeur, and the lively, drama-filled highlights of Bizet’s Carmen Suite No. 1. Plus, experience something new and thrilling with a world premiere by composer Jeffrey Ching, adding a fresh touch to this evening of timeless favourites.

Perfect for anyone wanting to explore the joy of orchestral music, this concert is a feast of melody, energy, and emotion that promises to leave you uplifted!

This is a change to the previously advertised concert. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Buenos Aires Symphony Orchestra of Colón Opera has had to cancel its UK tour. As a result, its Manchester concert has been cancelled. We are delighted that the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra from Manila has agreed to take over the tour and perform instead. If you had tickets for the Buenos Aires Symphony Orchestra concert, you will have received an email with advice as to what to do next. If you have any queries, please email supervisors@bridgewater-hall.co.uk or call the Box Office on 0161 907 9000.
