This Mid-Day concert is an opportunity to showcase the remarkable and diverse talent of the World Percussion Group. The excitement and physicality of a percussion concert might be a new experience, but the range of sounds and musical traditions represented here is something that fits in with the spirit of the new Mid-Day season.
The World Percussion Group doesn’t have a set list of personnel, but comprises successful audition candidates from hundreds of applicants worldwide. A star soloist, a composer-in-residence and several ensemble players are selected to embark on a European or World tour. Last year, the collective travelled to and from each tour location by cruise ship. This concert opens their European tour this year and their line-up will feature players and repertoire from all over the world. Their season will start – quite literally – with a bang.
