Wagner’s Prelude to Tristan and Isolde essentially invented modern music – its opening harmony even has its own nickname, the ‘Tristan Chord’. Thanks to 2001: A Space Odyssey, the start of Strauss’s immense Also sprach Zarathustra is just as famous. Also tonight, Elisabeth Brauss guests in Mozart’s sparkling 21st Piano Concerto.
