BBC Philharmonic: Beethoven – Symphony No.3

This event has passed

Beethoven The Creatures of Prometheus – overture and incidental music (selection) (32’)
Beethoven Opferlied (7’)
Beethoven Symphony No.3, ‘Eroica’ (45’)

The first of five BBC Philharmonic concerts celebrating 250 years since Beethoven’s birth spotlights the indelible, incredible ‘Eroica’, regularly voted the greatest symphony of all time. It’s joined by two rarities: Opferlied, a casually brilliant piece of choral writing, and extracts from The Creatures of Prometheus, Beethoven’s only full-length ballet.

Journey Through Music: (Free pre-concert event) 6.15pm, Barbirolli Room.

These pre-concert events are a great opportunity for the entire family to get to know the music. They include demonstrations from BBC Philharmonic players and programme notes written specially for younger audiences. Please aim to arrive by 6pm. This event is free but places are available on a first-come-first-served basis. More Info

BBC Philharmonic Notes: Book a seat in the dedicated Notes area for free digital programme notes beamed to your smartphone during the concert. Available for every concert in the BBC Philharmonic’s 2019-20 season. More Info
