Bridgewater For All Monthly Playback: October 2024

October Playback 2024

Welcome to the October edition of our Bridgewater For All Playback, where we look back at the highlights of the Learning and Participation programme at The Bridgewater Hall for this month. The leaves are turning brown, and the clocks have gone back, but there’s no slowing down at the Hall this month.

We hope you enjoy reading what we’ve been up to in October.

The L&P Department

The Bridgewater Hall Singers – 2 & 30 October

Our community choir, The Bridgewater Hall Singers, have jumped straight into Christmas preparation this month. Some might say ‘Bah Humbug!’ but we don’t! With lots of lovely performances planned around the city, including our Simply Singing Christmas Big Sing, the festive season is our choir’s busiest period. This means it’s never too early to get into the Crimbo spirit! In addition to the repertoire the Singers have been learning throughout the year, we have some firm festive favourites returning such as Feliz Navidad and We Wish You a Merry Christmas BUT with a very fun twist! Keep your eyes peeled for more information over the next few weeks! To find out more about the Bridgewater Hall Singers click here.

Music Makers – 7 October

The fabulous Beth Bishop led this month’s Music Makers sessions, and together we went on an autumnal adventure through the forest. Joined by her trusty flute and guitar, we crunched through leaves, heard the whisper of the breeze, and the pitter patter of the rain. As well as songs and sensory games (which included the ever-popular parachute) there was lots of time for free play, and for little ones to get up close to different types of instruments. We ended the session with a very on brand song about a little dancing ghost who lived in a little dark house. Spooky! To find out more about Music Makers click here.

Be Hear Now – 13 October

Beth was back again to lead our beloved Be Hear Now on 13 October, and we were joined by the amazing Ali Mac and Alice Phelps from Live Music Now. Ali and Alice took us through a seaside adventure, where there were seagulls and sea shanties galore. Alice introduced us to her double bass, and everyone instantly recognised those famous few notes from Jaws as soon as she began to play them. As always, it was a joyous session with lots of calm moments where participants could sit back, relax, and reflect. Not a bad way to spend a Sunday! To find out more about Be Hear Now click here.

L&P Casuals Introductions – 29 October

This month we had the opportunity to welcome four lovely new Learning and Participation casuals to our team! Our L&P casuals do an amazing job of helping the department at our events. From getting stuck in with set up to sharing their amazing musical talents with our groups, they’re a vital part of the team that you might not always know are there!
