Bridgewater For All Monthly Playback: July 2024

Hello!

Welcome to the July edition of our Bridgewater For All Playback, where we look back at the highlights of the Learning and Participation programme at The Bridgewater Hall for this month. Whilst we’ve had Graduations galore at the Hall, we’ve been busy sharing the best of our activity around the city this July.

We hope you enjoy reading what we’ve been up to in July.

Bridgewater Hall Singers x Manchester University Music Society performance – Monday 8 July

Over the past few weeks our Bridgewater Hall Singers have been rehearsing with students from Manchester University Music Society ahead of Manchester Museum’s Culture Monday event on 8 July. It was a real joy to work with the students, who brought such great energy and beautiful voices to the choir. Stood in the beautiful Living Worlds Gallery, lots of our Singers noted it was the first time (and probably only time!) that they’d sang underneath the skeleton of a sperm whale! The Culture Monday’s crowd was made up of many different community groups and 50+ clubs. All were so kind and receptive to the performance and our Singers – it was a real pleasure and truly uplifting event! Big thank you to the students, Manchester Museum and The University of Manchester for making this happen.

Music Makers, Manchester Baby Week 2024 – Tuesday 9 July

As part of Manchester Baby Week 2024, we hosted an extra special Music Makers session this month. In this session, Sarah took us on a musical journey to the Zoo, to pick out a pet! We bounced with kangaroos, hopped with bunnies, and popped bubbles with a turtle. It was great to be involved in this programme of city-wide events – and great to see so many new families. We’re taking a break over August but will be back for more Music Makers on 16th September.

Bridgewater Hall Singers, Manchester Day 2024 – Saturday 27 July

Our Bridgewater Hall Singers teamed up with Simply Singing’s North West Choirs to create a mega choir for Manchester Day on the 27 July! We had over 60 singers team up on New Cathedral Street to perform a beautiful setlist. From Let It Be to Lean on Me, there were some classic hits, and lots of smiley faces. It was a lovely way to end a brilliant term – well done Singers!
