Commencing the evening with the sweeping grandeur of the Karelia Suite by Sibelius, internationally renowned violinist Maxim Vengerov then joins celebrated Armenian conductor Sergey Symbatyan and the RNPO to perform two great concertos. First of all, Alexey Shor’s beautifully evocative Enchanted Moment for Symphony Orchestra, followed by Prokofiev’s First Violin Concerto – radiant one minute, savage the next this work captures the urgency of the times of the First World War. This glorious programme finishes with Tchaikovsky’s magnificent Swan Lake Suite. A concert not to be missed!
