The Kitchen Ceili Band is a Manchester-based acoustic group specialising in music from the Celtic tradition. The band was formed about five years ago following a pub session at the Beech in Chorlton. The repertoire winds its way through centuries of Irish music – from the baroque-nuanced tunes of the 17th century harper Turlough O’Carolan, through the energising jigs, reels, polkas and hornpipes of traditional dance, to the inventive contemporary music of today’s young players and composers.
Other events in the building – such as tours, lunch groups and conferences – help to maintain our concert programme and Bridgewater for All activity throughout the year. Occasionally a small amount of sound transfer will arise as part of a busy, working building.
