America’s legendary singer-songwriter Don McLean returns to the UK in May for a select number of dates in support of his new album, Botanical Gardens due out on 23 March 2018.
The folk-influenced singer-songwriter is best known for his songs Vincent (Starry Starry Night), Crying, Castles In The Air and the iconic American Pie. Since first hitting the charts in 1971, Don has amassed over 40 gold and platinum records worldwide and in 2004 was inducted into the Songwriters’ Hall of Fame.
His new album Botanical Gardens was inspired by a visit to the gardens close to Sydney Opera House. Intimacy can be found at the heart of this record, with Don penning personal numbers looking back on a life well lived, as well as his observations on youth and love. Don proves his prowess at writing timeless sounding songs once again, as the album weaves country, Americana, folk, and boot stomping rock in this release, his first in 8 years.
