Respighi Pines of Rome (22’)

Tom Coult heralds the 2020 opening of RHS Garden Bridgewater in Salford with a premiere exploring how nature can thrive in an urban environment, a century after Respighi considered the same subject. Meanwhile, Sibelius hunts down the mythic Finnish forest god and Debussy sets impressionistic sail on the ocean wave.

Journey Through Music: (Free pre-concert event) 6.15pm, Barbirolli Room.

These pre-concert events are a great opportunity for the entire family to get to know the music. They include demonstrations from BBC Philharmonic players and programme notes written specially for younger audiences. Please aim to arrive by 6pm.
