Zimmermann Capriccio for piano 9′
Brahms Clarinet Sonata No.1 for clarinet and piano 22′
Winner of the 2021 Terence Judd-Hallé Award, German pianist Elisabeth Braufl is also a BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artist. She joins Hallé Principals for Beethoven’s early ‘Gassenhauer’ Trio, its nickname arising from the finale’s variations on a hit operatic tune of the day. Following Elisabeth’s solo spot playing Zimmermann’s ‘improvisation on folk-song themes’, Capriccio, she and Sergio Castelló López will perform Brahms’s First Clarinet Sonata, one of the four masterworks he composed for the instrument towards the end of his life.
