Preview 6.30pm

Crispin Woodhead and members of the OAE discuss their unique approach to the evening’s programme.

The great master of Baroque music wrote only four orchestral dance suites, despite the great demand for the genre in that period. Bach’s are full of extraordinary riches. Their most famous movement is the Air on the G-string from the Third Suite, but the Badinerie for flute and strings from the Second is also well-known. And yet there is so much more to discover in these pieces. Period instruments specialists, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, bring a special flare and insight to this music of dancing delights.
