Jeffrey Mumford Within diffuse echoes … softly spreading (18’) (BBC commission: world premiere)
Mendelssohn Piano Concerto No.1 (19’)
Mahler Symphony No.5 (68’)
From dawn to dusk, American composer Jeffrey Mumford’s evocative music takes its cues from the ebb and flow of natural light around us. Tonight’s world premiere is conducted by Joana Carneiro, who is joined by Denis Kozhukhin for Mendelssohn’s dashing, dazzling First Piano Concerto. Mahler’s majestic Fifth completes the programme.
