Digital Programme Notes and Phone Use
2022 BBC Philharmonic concerts in the 2021/22 season open up the opportunity for all Bridgewater Hall audiences to access free programme notes via smartphones. You can choose to access information about the performance in two ways:
Programme Notes: Programme notes similar to a traditional printed programme, with summary information about the music and the composers
BBC Notes: Detailed programme notes, timed with the music, giving you insights into what you are hearing and seeing on stage as it happens
Use the QR code printed on your ticket to access either. Both options are completely free with your concert ticket but please be aware that mobile phone use is unrestricted and applies to all seating areas within the Bridgewater Hall.

Happy birthday to us! The BBC celebrates its centenary in 2022, and the BBC Philharmonic is coming to the party with this Saturday-night special – part of a weekend-long, UK-wide showcase of the BBC’s orchestras and choirs.

The music runs from then to now. Hindemith’s dizzily thrilling Kammermusik No. 1 dates from 1922, the year the BBC was founded. By contrast, the UK premiere of Marionettes by Uzbek composer Aziza Sadikova, a work that looks back to the baroque and forward to the future, stands as testament to the BBC’s continued commitment to new music. Eliso Virsaladze takes centre stage for the joyful romanticism of Schumann’s Piano Concerto, before Chief Conductor Omer Meir Wellber transports us to mythical climes with Tippett’s sparkling Ritual Dances.
