BBC Philharmonic: Szymanowski/Myaskovsky

This event has passed

Rimsky-Korsakov The Golden Cockerel – extracts (8’)
Szymanowski Violin Concerto No.2 (20’)
Myaskovsky Symphony No.6 (58’)

*Due to an injury, original soloist Tasmin Little has regrettably had to withdraw from the concert on 1 February. We are grateful to Liza Ferschtman for taking her place in Szymanowski’s Second Violin Concerto.

This evening, we hear a treasured speciality: Szymanowski’s gripping second Violin Concerto. Vassily Sinaisky then takes on another Eastern European masterpiece from between the wars: Myaskovsky’s epic Sixth Symphony, at once deeply political and intensely personal.
