We have a diverse range of departments, all helping to create the quality experience that individuals have come to expect from events held at The Bridgewater Hall.
The Technical department's function is to ensure that all commercial, conference and cultural users of the Hall receive the highest technical support and resources in an effective way. They ensure that working spaces and technical equipment are kept in good, presentable working order and compliant with Health and Safety Regulations. Professional development ensures the team have a full range of knowledge, skills and abilities to meet the needs of hirers and promoters.
The Marketing team promotes the Hall's events and services to customers. We manage marketing campaigns for concerts, external communications including the website and the Hall's brand, including in-house design.
The Box Office is usually the first point of contact for visitors to The Bridgewater Hall and the team provides information and guidance to ensure that your visit will be an enjoyable one. The Box Office is responsible for the ticketing of all performances and auditorium events and sells nearly half a million tickets each year.
Systems and IT
The IT team maintain and develop all of the systems within The Hall. This ranges from running the servers, PCs and computer network to looking after the telephone and till systems to developing the Box Office ticketing and CRM database. The IT team are always on the lookout for new technologies to keep The Bridgewater Hall at the forefront of the industry.
Conference & Events
The Conference & Events team's main objective is to generate revenue for the business by promoting the spaces in the building for private hire, meetings, conferences and other corporate events. This is achieved by careful and efficient diary management to make sure that the Hall's concerts programme is not affected and that our corporate guests experience a high level of services and facilities. As well as being the first point of contact for all corporate event enquiries, we also work with clients to advise them of the operations of the Hall in relation to their event and co-ordinate all the agreed arrangements with other departments on the day. We aim to deliver a professional, personal and friendly service, ensuring that our clients' original aspirations are realised on the day of their event in this unique and beautiful venue.
The Programming team is responsible for the programming and organisation of the diverse range of concerts at The Bridgewater Hall. This involves liaising with agents and promoters, as well as our resident orchestras, in all elements of concert planning.
The Bridgewater Hall shop is open both daytime and evening selling unusual gifts, greetings cards, jewellery and CDs. We work on a rota basis which includes mainly evening and weekend shifts serving members of the public. We operate a computerised till system and are responsible for accurate cash drawer takings and cash reconcilliation at the end of each shift. We undertake monthly stocktakes, administer any telephone orders, provide administrative support and maintain the cleaning and upkeep of all shop areas.
The Human Resources department develops and implements HR strategy in line with organisational objectives and ensures the provision of effective human resource service to the organisation. The Human Resources department has responsibility for areas including recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management, discipline and grievance issues and contract administration. Support is given to both managers and employees to ensure that all employees are able to carry out their roles effectively.
This department provides administrative and secretarial support to the Chief Executive. The responsibilities are varied and include the organisation and administration of meetings of the board of the operating company and the Hall's Education Trust, as well as the organisation of VIP, corporate and fundraising events. The department also hosts and co-ordinates the visits of external organisations from the overseas and UK cultural sector, architects, educationalists and others.
Bars & Catering
The Bars & Catering team is lead by Head Chef Marco Tedde. The team cater for pre-concert diners in the renowned Charles Hallé restaurant and Stalls Café Bar. Stalls Café Bar also serves a daytime menu featuring an eclectic mix of modern British and Mediterranean-influenced light lunches and drinks. The team also caters for conferences, banquets and other events, including breakfasts, canapés, finger and fork buffets, sit down dinners and other unique and varied menus.
The Housekeeping department is responsible for the immaculate cleaning and upkeep of The Bridgewater Hall on a daily basis. This includes both internal and external areas of the building. Individuals who excel in this department have an eye for detail and a commitment to the training, development and motivation of a diverse group of talented employees.
The Finance department is responsible for the invoicing of all corporate clients and providing settlements and invoices for concert activity. The department covers a wide range of duties including the reporting of monthly management accounts to the board of directors, the reporting of key performance indicators (KPIs) to heads of departments, completion of month-end reconcilliations, budgeting, forcasting, cash flow, purchase ledger, payroll and dealing with ad-hoc queries.
