Making their debut at The Bridgewater Hall conducted by Music Director Hans Graf, this fine American orchestra brings a special project exploring science and outer-space. John Adams’ opera Dr. Atomic tells the controversial story of Robert Oppenheimer who made the first atomic bomb. Music from the opera is heard here as a symphonic suite. In the second half, the orchestra plays Holst’s evocative music as a live accompaniment to a High-Definition film of images from NASA missions such as the Mars Rover, Voyagers 1 and 2, Mariner 10, Magellan and Galileo. Don’t miss this unique glimpse into the mysteries of the Solar System!

‘As the orchestra thundered through the music of Mars, the Bringer of War, images of the red planet’s mountains, gullies and craters flew across the screen. Graf drew maximum drama from the music, which the film brilliantly matched.’ South Florida Classic Review
