The Hallé Concerts Society is very grateful to Classical Brit winner, Alina Ibragimova, who replaces the advertised soloist, Janine Jansen, for our performances of Brahms's Double Concerto at The Bridgewater Hall on Wednesday 22, Thursday 23 and Sunday 26 September. Janine Jansen has had to withdraw for health reasons.

Those who cherish Brahms love his Double Concerto for its distinctive orchestral textures, delicate musings and entertaining dialogue between the two soloists. ‘My new work must be capable of stirring the world – God grant me that it will!’ said Dvorák and his astonishingly rich Seventh Symphony, overlaid with tragic overtones, is considered by many to be his finest. This attractive programme opens with Smetana’s portrayal of the river Vltava as it flows through Bohemia’s countryside to Prague.
