The young Russian pianist, Slava Sidorenko impressed the Manchester Mid-day Concerts audition panel with his thoughtful and intensely musical pianism. This approach is reflected in his programme, which includes Beethoven’s enduring Appassionata Sonata, Chopin’s haunting Barcarolle and ends with the jazz-inspired music of Ukrainian composer and jazz pianist Nicholai Kapustin (b.1937).
