In 2011, The Bridgewater Hall and Manchester Camerata worked with ten community groups from across Greater Manchester on Urban Symphony No.5. This innovative project saw groups using visual art and music to create individual movements of a new symphony inspired by the city's architecture. The fifth and final movement used The Bridgewater Hall as its starting point, and community groups performed at the Hall in May following a series of four workshops during the spring.

If you prefer to remain an audience member, you can enjoy free music on Friday lunchtimes during the summer. A Little Bite Music is a diverse series of concerts held in The Bridgewater Hall foyer between May and September each year, with performances ranging from emerging artists to established ensembles, classical quartets to contemporary world rhythms.
Many of our learning projects also involve community groups. In 2009, ladies from Wythenshawe performed in the foyer as part of the Hall’s piano festival, whilst everybody was welcome to try out one of the Steinways that were available to play in public spaces throughout the building. During 2011 we have also been working with NACRO - the National Association for the Care and Resettlement of Offenders - to offer music, drama and writing workshops in the inspiring setting of The Bridgewater Hall. In the future, we're talking about creative writing, guitars and Japan - keep visiting the website or ask to receive e-bulletins to find out what's happening.
